How to stay safe when using fireworks

When setting off fireworks in your back garden, it is important that you follow the strict laws about firework safety. This will help to minimise any chances of risks and injuries, therefore keeping your family and friends safe. Continue reading to find out about the laws regarding fireworks.

  • Category 4 fireworks to only be used by professionals
  • Fireworks shouldn’t be set off between 11pm – 7am expect for Bonfire Night, New  Years Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year
  • Nobody under the age of 18 should handle fireworks
  • Only buy from registered sellers

In addition to these laws, there is a lot of advice about handling explosives. We have tried and tested some advice and have decided to inform you about using fireworks.

  • Only use your fireworks outside and when using them, make sure you have a bucket of water nearby in case of any accident and you need to react fast.
  • Never hold fireworks in your hand or near your body whilst lighting them. Also, wear some eye protection to avoid any damage to such a delicate body part.
